What You’ll Learn
Drafting Basics
Introduction to Mechanical Drafting covers the foundational concepts essential for anyone entering the field of technical design. Students will gain a solid understanding of Technical Drawing Fundamentals, including the principles of line work, scales, and drawing standards. The course also delves into Geometrical Construction and Orthographic Projection, enabling learners to accurately represent 3D mechanical components in 2D views. Additionally, emphasis is placed on Freehand Sketching and Dimensioning, helping students develop the ability to communicate design ideas quickly and precisely using industry-standard notations.
Views and Layout Techniques
Students will explore the fundamentals of Projection and Scales, learning how to represent objects accurately and proportionally in technical drawings. The course introduces the Layout and Isometric Concept, equipping learners with the skills to create visually comprehensive 3D-like representations of mechanical components. In addition, the module on Sectional Views teaches how to reveal internal features of objects through precise cutting-plane techniques, enhancing the clarity and detail of complex mechanical drawings.
Mechanical Elements
This module focuses on essential Mechanical Components, providing in-depth knowledge of Fasteners and Joints commonly used in mechanical assemblies. Students will learn about various types of Nuts and Bolts, their specifications, and applications in securing machine parts. The curriculum also covers Shafts and Bearings, highlighting their functions, types, and importance in ensuring smooth rotational movement within mechanical systems. Together, these topics build a strong foundation for understanding how mechanical parts are connected and operate in real-world machinery.
Advanced Concepts
This section introduces the concepts of Limits, Fits, and Tolerance, essential for ensuring precise manufacturing and proper functioning of mechanical components. Students will learn how to apply standard tolerancing practices to maintain accuracy in part assembly. The module also explores Surface Roughness, helping learners understand the impact of surface finish on mechanical performance and wear. Additionally, the course covers the basics of Steam Engines and Power Transmission systems, providing insights into how energy is generated and transferred through mechanical means in industrial applications.
Eligibility & Duration:
Open to candidates with a Secondary School Certificate (SSC). This is a 3-month course that includes hands-on practical training to build foundational skills.
